Could you lend a helping paw at Dogs Trust?

AN APPEAL has been launched by Evesham’s Dogs Trust to find volunteers in a variety of roles.

A Volunteer Information Morning is being held at the Wickhamford-based rehoming centre from 9am to 11am next Saturday, January 20.

As well as finding out more about volunteering, visitors will be given a look behind the scenes with a tour of the new centre.

The charity already has 80 volunteers who have gave in excess of 6,300 hours in 2017 undertaking several tasks, from walking four-legged friends to helping out at events.

Among the roles are volunteer canine assistants, fun day event volunteers and gardeners.

Canine assiatants help with day-to-day-tasks, such as cleaning, walking dogs, grooming and cuddling in the kennels. This role can be physically demanding and requires a good level of fitness.

Fun day event volunteers are needed on June 24 from 9am to 4pm to help out in a variety of roles, including manning stalls, marshalling and organising activities.

And green-fingered helpers are required to assist with the upkeep of the charity’s green space, flower beds, and maintenance of all outdoor areas. This role will suit people who have had experience of or an interest in gardening.

All volunteers receive full training to help them get to grips with their new roles and they will get the chance to meet plenty of furry friends along the way.

Natalie Gould, The Dogs Trust’s volunteer co-ordinator, said: “Volunteers are extremely important to us as a charity and we couldn’t care for as many dogs as we do without their help.

“We are always on the lookout for new recruits and really hope the roles we have available will appeal to a wide range of people.

“If you think you could spare a little or a lot of time to lend a hand, please come along to our information morning.”

Residents wanting to attend the event next Saturday need to register in advance. Call Natalie Gould on 01386 835 853 or e-mail [email protected] for an application form.
