Cooper to be honoured with plaque in Morrisons

Evesham Editorial 26th May, 2021   0

A MEMORIAL plaque to remember Evesham’s own feline celebrity Cooper the Morrisons Cat will be put in the Davies Road store, supermarket chief have confirmed.

Morrisons revealed an in-store collection had already raised enough to order a tribute to the much-loved feline who passed away on Sunday (May 23).

The four-legged friend to many shoppers at the Davies Road store was hit by a vehicle on the busy Evesham road.

Remaining cash from donations in store will be added to the money collected by a fund-raising page set up in Cooper’s memory.

The page was set up by Ann-Marie Ward to raise cash for Avon Cat Rescue just hours after the sad news of Cooper’s death was confirmed.

More than eight times the original amount set has already been raised in memory of the famous feline who gave town shoppers even more reasons to shop at Morrisons.

From ‘meeting and greeting’ shoppers to keeping an eye on stock including boxes of chocolates and of course cat food, Cooper proved to be a ray of sunshine for many.

Writing on the Go Fund Me page, Ann-Marie said: “It won’t be the same going into Morrisons without him being there.

“I would like to raise some money in this cheeky, affectionate little boy’s memory. I know he is going to be missed by many people but especially by his mummy Juliette.”

In a message on Cooper’s own Facebook page, his family wrote: “RIP Cooper you were the best. Gone but never forgotten. We are heartbroken. Thanks for all his fuss and treats over the years xx REST IN PEACE SUPER COOPER XX”
