Church urges residents to join in with events to highlight Christian Aid Week

Evesham Editorial 8th May, 2017   0

MEMBERS and friends of All Saints Church are providing a Christian Aid Large Lunch for Vale residents to dig deep to enjoy company and good food.

The event will be held at midday next Sunday (May 14) as part of the charity’s dedicated week of events which kicks off on the same day.

Then, a week later on Sunday May 21, residents are invited to partake of The Big Brekkie, a breakfast starting at 9.15am at Evesham Methodist Church, leading into the morning service at 10.30am which will mark the end of Christian Aid Week.

The food has been provided by local supermarkets and stores including Tescos, Morrisons, the Co-Op, Iceland, Evesham Greengrocer and others, so all donations will go directly to help the work of Christian Aid.

Christian Aid Week raises much needed funds for those living in poverty in parts of the world where even necessities are hard to come by – let alone work to help fathers keep their families and mothers feed their children.

Above all else there is a need for fresh, clean water for hundreds of villages. A simple and inexpensive pump would solve that problem for thousands whose children have only impure or infected water to drink.

Three weeks ago the people of Evesham very generously clocked up donations of £250 at a Super-Soup lunch at Evesham Methodist Church.
