Cash means extra chargers

Evesham Editorial 9th Feb, 2020   0

A NEW drive to boost the number of ultra low emission vehicles on the district’s roads has been boosted with a £150,000 council cash injection.

Evesham and Pershore will be main beneficiaries of the 20 new 7Kw chargers and once work is completed at the end of March, it will take the number of EV chargers in Wychavon District Council’s car parks to 24.

Four new charging points will be installed at Asda in Pershore while a further six will be fitted at Evesham Leisure Centre on Abbey Road.

The two existing charging points at the Civic Centre in Pershore will be joined by two additional units.

Motorists will have to pay for their parking and electricity separately. Residents will be able to use the chargers of an evening as Wychavon’s car parks are free after 6pm, but they will still have to pay for their electricity.
