A COMPETITION looking for the perfect picture to represent an historic Vale battle has been won by an Evesham youngster.

Ten-year-old Christena Joseph of St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, created her winning design for the Battle of Evesham 2015 Festival which event organisers will make into a large scale poster to be displayed around the town promoting the weekend.

Christena said: “I thought the Abbey should be in the poster as it’s a monument in Evesham and something that everyone appreciates because its been there for so long. Then I included the knights from both armies to remember the battle.”

Year three teacher, Lucy Cox said: “We’ve been looking at the Battle of Evesham and Simon de Montfort’s role in the emergence of parliament this year so I asked the children if they wanted to enter the poster competition, with Christena being amongst the pupils who really wanted to get involved.”
