What Lies Ahead For Evesham United FC

Evesham Editorial 21st Jun, 2022   0

Evesham is a small English town in the Wychavon district of Worcestershire. Evesham is famous for its fruit and vegetable farming and the numerous shops and farmer’s markets that sell the fresh produce. The second is Evesham United Football Club. The locals are very passionate about the club and pack out the 3000-seat stadium every week.

The club finished the 2021-2022 season a lowly 13th in the league and only 12 points from relegation. While the club and fans were not very happy with 13th, there is a strong belief that they will finish higher the next time around.

While we are waiting for the coming campaign, try casino777 to take your mind off what is undoubtedly going to be an enjoyable 2022-2023 season.

The Pre-Season Friendlies Before The League Starts

Pre-season friendlies give the manager of the team a great insight into the squad he has at his disposal for the coming season.

The games also provide the players with an idea of the strengths of other players, and this is especially true for any new players that have been signed by the club recently. Although billed as friendlies, both sides will try to win and go into the competitive season feeling confident.

Evesham United FC has a busy pre-season schedule and is looking forward to putting last season behind them. The following matches have been confirmed:

  • Saturday 2nd July Cheltenham Town (H)
  •  Saturday 9th July Bewdley Town (A)
  • Tuesday 12th July Banbury United (H)
  • Saturday 16th July Bath City (H)
  • Friday 22nd July Pershore Town (A)
  • Saturday 23rd July North Leigh (H)
  •  Tuesday 26th July Redditch United (H)
  • Saturday 30th July Thornbury (A)
  • Saturday 6th August Halesowen/Kidlington (H)

The Players Re-Signing For Evesham United FC

It is vital to retain the talent that you have at the club. The club spends time and financial resources on their players, and keeping the best is a priority. Evesham United has a good record of players committing to the following season. Several key players are keen to improve on last year’s results.

The Clubs New Signings so Far

While it is always nice to have players recommit for the new season, fresh talent is always needed. Evesham has been quick to start signing new players that the manager Mike Ford believes can help strengthen critical areas of the team.

To date, four new players have put pen to paper and will be playing for Evesham United next season. They are Chris Knowles, a veteran midfielder that has played and coached in English and Australian football.

Ben Whitehead is a highly rated striker with serious pace and an eye for goal. Ben previously played for Cirencester scoring 86 goals in 87 matches.

Michael O’Regan, a defender, played eight games for Stratford Town last season and is now looking forward to the pre-season matches with much anticipation.

Charlie Wise was the first player to sign for Evesham United since the transfer window opened at the end of the previous season. The 26-year-old central defender says that one of the main reasons for going to Evesham United is to work with manager Mike Ford. With fresh talent and the current squad, it is hard to see Evesham not improving on last year.
