VALE residents are being invited to an evening of melodies performed by one of Europe’s top orchestras.
Orchestra of the Swan: A Scandinavian Serenade will take to the stage at Pershore Number 8 Community Arts Centre on Friday evening (April 28), where the audience are promised an evening of entertainment featuring some of the most regularly performed and popular suites for string orchestras.
Opening with a one-movement piece written when Mendelssohn was only 14 years old, the programme develops into a lyrical and intense combination of Slavic nationalism and folk elements.
Conducted by David Curtis, Orchestra of the Swan: A Scandinavian Serenade will include Mendelssohn’s ‘String Symphony no10 in B minor’, Grieg’s ‘Two Elegiac Melodies’ and ‘Holberg Suite’ and Dvorák’s ‘Serenade for Strings in E major op22’.
The much-anticipated programme is the third and final in a series of Orchestra of the Swan concerts at Pershore Number 8 Community Arts Centre, following on from the highly praised performances of Magical Mozart and The English Genius.
There will be a pre-concert talk at 6.45pm, before the event begins at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £15.50 and includes an 85p fee if booked online.
