THE LEAST efficient Cotswolds homes will be given a green boost to reduce the district's carbon emissions.
Housing provider Fosseway Living will improve loft insulation at more than 700 houses across the district after being granted £160,000 by energy supplier Powergen.
The move is hoped to improve the amount of energy escaping through poorly insulated traditional Cotswolds buildings.
Stephen Cook, the company's managing director, said: "The extra insulation will reduce the rate of heat loss, helping to maintain a comfortable temperature for longer and reducing the need for additional heating during the day.
"Our customers will see the benefit by spending less on their fuel bills and by reducing their carbon emissions overall."
The money has been secured with the Social Housing Action to Reduce Energy Consumption (SHARE), a European project to reduce carbon emissions across the continent.
Catrin Maby, director of SHARE, said: "This programme will improve the lives of hundreds of people.
"Insulation helps to reduce the amount of heating that is needed to make a home comfortable to live in and helps us to reduce our impact on the environment."
Fosseway Living hopes to secure further funding to improve insulation in another 600 homes.
