How Can EAC Help You?

EAC are specialists in English courses in UK locations, providing teaching to adults, teenagers and children alike. Whether you're a beginner or at an advanced level (and no matter your age or background), EAC offer many varied English courses, one of which is sure to suit your needs.

Founded in 1992, EAC was originally known as the Edinburgh Activity Camps, catering for local school children in Edinburgh during their school holidays. The organisation later began offering English language courses in 1997 as an international summer centre, before expanding throughout the UK and beyond.

The company now provides programmes in 20 locations across Britain including London, Hastings and Bath, as well as courses in the USA, France and Spain; making it one of the fastest growing language teaching organisations in the world.

English language courses are now available for a range of age groups and nationalities; from young learners through to courses for over 50s. English summer schools are a fantastic way for your children to spend their summer.

EAC's staff are trained to ensure they have the best possible summer experience, making new friends along the way. Since it first opened in the Scottish capital, the company has proudly provided activities for young people aged between five and 16 years old and has now expanded, offering International Summer Schools and International Activity Camps throughout the UK as well as year-round language schools in Edinburgh and Hastings. You can choose from summer junior courses and school group travel.

The summer centres are held at University campuses and schools with excellent facilities, which enable young people to experience a proactive course of study in academic surroundings, with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in British culture.

English courses in Edinburgh are at the heart of EAC. Housed in one of the finest cities in Europe, known for its diverse arts, culture and heritage, studying at one of the Edinburgh Language Schools provides you with the opportunity to explore this beautiful city as well as develop your language skills.

Wherever you choose to study, you'll be able to enjoy a full social programme as a break from your studies, allowing you to experience local entertainment, sporting activities and explore the area on the many excursions provided by the language school, depending on your chosen centre.

At selected EAC centres there may be the chance for you to develop other extra-curricular skills within the schools of excellence. These include courses in football, tennis, horse-riding and performing arts.

EAC is no longer just for kids, though. There is also a range of adult courses to choose from. Having had 18 years of experience in providing summer programmes in English for young learners, EAC now combines packages for families, which include adult courses for parents and access to the activity camps for youngsters.

Adults can choose to study general English courses on a semi-intensive (15 hours) or intensive basis (22.5 hours) or an executive course. These are available either in a small groups (normally of up to four or five students) or as private lessons (where you can learn on a one-to-one basis with a dedicated tutor).

General English courses provide the opportunity to develop and practise your listening and reading skills in order to produce spoken and written English. If you're planning to study in the summer time there are adult residential summer school programmes in London and Bristol, which combine the general English course with a number of other activities.

Executive English courses, however, concentrate on the business aspect of the language, which is particularly useful to those wishing to use English in working environments (including financial management, sales, marketing, management, ecommerce and project management).

All that is required of you in order to join this course is an interest in business and an intermediate level of English. You'll study in a task-based manner using a number of methods, such as role-play, discussion, case studies, presentations, and real-life information gathering exercises.

English courses for the over 50s are aimed at an older audience looking to improve their language knowledge and confidence when speaking English. With an emphasis on listening and speaking, these language programmes will help improve your communication skills.

EAC also offer a selection of courses for teachers wishing to improve upon their classroom skills. These are much shorter refresher courses that take place throughout the year, where you'll be able to observe other EAC teachers and undergo feedback and evaluation sessions.

Accredited by the British Council, all courses maintain high standards of practice, using a variety of materials, such as newspapers, DVDs, the Internet, books and other media. All course materials are included within the course fee.

All EAC teachers and staff adopt a pro-active and professional method while also maintaining a friendly, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere to make sure you thoroughly enjoy your time, both studying and exploring.

As the company's ethos states: don't just learn English, experience English.
