Cheap holidays in the sun
A summer holiday is the perfect opportunity to escape the stresses of everyday life but, when it comes to choosing your destination, there are a lot of options to consider.
If you are looking for a sunny hot spot, then Malta or Tenerife could prove to be the ideal choice of holiday this year. For those who have to stick to a tight budget, there are plenty of cheap holidays available so you can go as far as possible and get the most from your money.
For those seeking a break in the sun but are unsure of whether to go to Malta or Tenerife, here are some facts which might help your decision:
Malta:
- Language - Malta does have its own language, ‘Maltese’ with their second language being English. Malta was under British rule for 160 years, gaining independence in 1964, thus leaving the Maltese with a strong knowledge of the English language. British tourists can communicate with ease – a great benefit when holidaying abroad.
- Currency - Malta accepts the Euro as its currency. In 2008, Malta introduced the Euro as a replacement to the Maltese Lira.
- Sport - Malta is a great location for the active individual. There are great spots to go hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, paragliding, wind surfing and yachting. If any equipment is required it can usually be rented for a low cost.
- Culture - Maltese islands have experienced various foreign rulers, all of which have left their stamp on Maltese culture. This means there are plenty of historical and cultural sites to visit whilst holidaying here.
- Transport - Malta is a small island and it only takes one hour to get from one end of the island to the other. As a result it takes very little time to visit different areas of interest and attractions, which gives you the opportunity to see as much as possible whilst on the island.
Tenerife:
- Beaches - Tenerife beaches are beautiful and provide a great place to unwind. The long stretches of sand which are blessed with glorious sunshine make Tenerife a perfect place to relax. The beaches are not the only natural attraction, however, and visitors can also enjoy the calm of mountains and tropical forests alongside a stunning coast.
- Shopping - Tenerife is a great holiday spot for all shoppers, benefiting from the luxury of low tax. There is also traditional shopping in the markets of Tenerife which are a great place to pick up bargains and experience the local culture.
- Nightlife - with a great array of bars and clubs to party the night away, Tenerife is a great destination for those interested in having a night out. Many resorts provide more relaxed evening entertainment alongside the traditional clubs, and restaurants serve fantastic local cuisine to guests.
- Adventure - Tenerife beaches have brilliant access to water sports, including jet-skiing, windsurfing and dive clubs. There are loads of activities to enjoy so there will be no chance of boredom.
Now is the perfect time to start looking for holidays to Malta, if you want to experience an island rich in culture, whilst those more interested in a fun filled adventure may prefer holidays to Tenerife. Whichever option you choose, you are sure to have a great time in these sun-kissed spots.
