  • Flooding is a result of climate change

    19 March 2008

HAVING read the recent report produced by the Centre for Ecology, followed by a glance out my window over flooded fields, I have to disagree with their findings (Flooding just a freak event, Observer front page last week).
If July was classified as a freak event then we have already had three such events this year causing the river to seriously break its banks, and making four in total within one year!
To say there is no evidence to suggest climate change is responsible is simply nonsense. We haven’t been through climate change before so there are no records to compare! It is obvious that our weather patterns are changing and these so called events are becoming more frequent.
It is time to stop talking about what has happened, what may happen and will happen, and simply get on with the task of protecting homes in the Pershore and Evesham areas. Talk is cheap - let's have some ACTION.
