FORMER Pakistan Test star and Surrey CCC ace Saqlain Mushtaq has signed for Evesham CC to play in the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League in the 2013 season.
Off break bowler Saqi, who is famed for pioneering the 'doosra' delivery, played 49 Test matches and 169 One Day Internationals for Pakistan between 1995 and 2004 and took 208 and 288 wickets in Tests and ODIs respectively.
He also scored a Test Match century, against New Zealand, in March 2001.
Saqi has agreed to do some promotional TV work for Boom TV, which will be featuring Evesham CC on its satellite channel throughout the season.
As part of his promotional work he has agreed to play some matches for Evesham when he returns from Zimbabwe, where he will be coaching the Bangladesh Test team.
Following last year's disappointing season, the Evesham 1st XI has greatly improved with the recruitment of new players and the club are confident of mounting a Division Three promotion push.
Saqi has also agreed to run a spin clinic at the Evesham Indoor Cricket Centre in August.
