THE SEARCH is on for Evesham's young musicians of the year.
The competition, organised by the Evesham Festival of Music, takes place this summer but talented youngsters who want to enter are being urged to do so as soon as possible before the closing date on April 17.
It will be split into a junior and senior section with pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8 competing for the junior title and students in Years 9 to Upper Sixth challenging for the senior prize.
The preliminary rounds for both sections will be on May 11 at Evesham High School and the final will be on Tuesday, June 25 at St Peters Church in Bengeworth as part of the Evesham Festival of Music.
Entrants can play a range of instruments from pianos to guitars or sing, but the standard in the junior section should be Grade 2 or above and Grade 4 or higher for the seniors.
Application forms can be downloaded online at www.eveshamfestivalofmusic.org.uk, from school music heads or Frances Smith, chairman of the Evesham Festival of Music at The Orchard, Malinshill Road Hampton, WR11 2QG.
