PEOPLE in the Vale are being urged push themselves to the limit to raise a huge amount for charity.

St Richard's Hospice is looking for individuals or teams of between eight to ten people to take part in this year's Paddle, Plod and Pedal.

The multi-disciplined challenge, which takes place on Saturday, July 27, covers more than 45 miles of Worcestershire countryside and sees competitors paddle from Pershore to Tewkesbury before they have to walk to Kempsey and then pedal back to Pershore.

The event is free to enter but challengers are asked to raise a minimum of £250 per person or £2,500 per team for St Richard's Hospice.

The charity provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life threatening illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team supports more than 2,300 patients and family members in Worcestershire.

And St Richard's Hospice is about to embark on redeveloping and extending the In-patient Unit which will enable them to care for over a third more patients.

Jodi Brandwood from St Richard's Hospice said: "This is an all-day challenge but not a race. It is tough but gives a great sense of achievement when you complete it and raise funds for a great local charity.

"Challengers can enter as a team or individually to form a mixed group. We also have some practice sessions in the bell boats to give people the chance to get used to paddling as this is one area some people might not be familiar with."

For more information or to sign up the challenge contact Jodi Brandwood on 01905 763963 or email her at
