Cirencester Ladies 3rds 1 Bretforton Ladies 2nds 4
West Clubs Women's Hockey League Severn Division Two
THE CONFIDENCE spreading through the ranks was plain to see as Bretforton Ladies 2nds racked up a third successive league win on Saturday to move off the foot of the table.
The visitors, clearly buoyed by their recent resurgence, produced some excellent play from the outset and there was plenty of skilful passing between Beddis and Lisa Davis as they strived to create chances for Andrea Cole, who returned to the side after a knee operation.
The hard work paid off when a short corner was awarded and Danni Cook found the backboard of the goal to give Bret a 1-0 advantage.
Cirencester came back fighting but, with good defence from Marion Icke who had come out of retirement for the game and Zoe Lavery, the visitors were able to repel their attacks.
Andrea Cole managed to flick the ball past the opposition goalkeeper to double Bret's lead but the hosts reduced their arrears soon afterwards.
However, player of the match Cook, paired with Cole in the centre for Bret, piled more pressure on to the opposition and this gave Gilly Wright the opportunity to smash the ball home and make it 3-1.
Some brilliant saves from Izzy Lavery kept Cirencester at bay and the points were then sealed when a cross from Davis found Hyde who completed the scoring.
The match ball sponsor was Andrew Wheeler who travelled to support the team with his sister Marion Icke.
