EVESHAM headed to high-flying OLs on Saturday looking to regain some momentum after successive defeats but, despite producing a battling performance, their title-chasing hosts proved too strong.
The visitors made a slow start and conceded a try but they rallied well as they pressurised OLs into making mistakes and this led to Evesham winning two penalties which were converted to give them a 6-5 lead.
However, these turned out to be Evesham's only points of the game, although the final scoreline does not reflect a strong performance against quality opposition.
Playing for 20 minutes with 14 men due to ill-discipline did not help the Vale outfit's cause but positives can be taken from a display which kept the hosts at bay for the majority of the game.
Tomorrow sixth placed Evesham head to Kings Norton, who are a place above them in the table and also on 38 points.
