Number 8 reveal star-studded Spring line-up

WILDLIFE expert Bill Oddie and TV comedian Arthur Smith will be making special visits to Pershore within the next few months, it has been announced.

The town's Number 8 Community Arts Centre has unveiled its Spring programme with a feast of events, film screenings and creative courses taking place from March right through to June.

Springwatch presenter Oddie will be the special guest at the High Street venue on Saturday, March 9 when he will tell stories and share memories of his TV moments with producer Stephen Moss on the Number 8 stage.

And on Friday, May 10 television funnyman Smith, who has appeared in several shows such as Grumpy Old Men and QI, will provide a night of laughter at the venue with his sublime playfullness, jokes and anecdotes.

Other notable events events include The Jonny Cash Roadshow in March, The Cavern Beatles in April and Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society's production of Chess in June.

There will also be the National Theatre Live's productions via satellite of People starring Francis de la Tour and The Royal Opera House's production of Nabucco.

Number 8's Spring film selection sees screenings of an array of award-winning movies including Argo, Lincoln and Django Unchained which are sure to draw in the crowds.

The varied programme also features big budget productions Cloud Atlas and The Impossible and is peppered with foreign language titles including The Hunt and Lore. Children are also in for a treat with animated adventures Sammy's Great Escape and Finding Nemo 3D.

For those who prefer hands-on activity there is a Carnival Crafts Workshop for children aged 6 and 11, a monthly children's book club which meets at Pershore Library, and weekly children's Youth Theatre and after-school dance classes.

For those aged 55 and over there is an opportunity to go back in time with the Chance to Dance Workshops which take on Motown and Classic Hollowood Musicals themes.
