Duo keep up the pressure at the top

THE TWO sides chasing Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League Division Four leaders Anchor Harriers both won at the weekend.

Dragons stayed second on goal difference with a 5-2 home victory over Stour Excelsior Reserves in which L Mullins, M Mullins, Gisbourne, Guoite and Rossiter scored for Dragons and Grace netted a double for Stour.

Elmley Castle stay third following a 7-0 home win over Campden/Ebrington United in which the villagers' goals came from Bate (2), Henry, Ellis, Smaylen, Jamers and Brotherton.

Pershore High Old Boys stretched their lead at the top of Division Three as their rivals were on cup duty.

Old Boys travelled to Broadway United Reserves where a second half goal from Taylor secured the points in a 1-0 success, whilst Ashton continued their recent improvement as Allison, Begley and James scored in a 3-1 victory at FC Fairfield.

Gary Dyke's double helped Gardeners Arms stay in the promotion picture with a 3-1 victory at Ecosamba and Badsey Recreation defeated visitors Ambassador 3-1 with goals from T Attwood, Chris Attwood and Pinkney, with Ambassador on target through Keay.

In Division Two Tesco United led at the interval through Charman only for hosts Cider Mill to hit back in the second half through Bullock (2) and Ballard and seal a 3-1 victory.

Cheltenham Saints defeated bottom placed visitors Lenches Lions 7-2 as Saints bagged six first half goals without reply before adding one more after the break.

The goalscorers were Hope (3), Gibbs (2), Drew and Howell, whilst Lions replied through Davies and Burtenshaw.

Hosts Evesham WMC and Pinvin United drew 1-1 in Division One as Upfield gave Pinvin the lead before Rowley levelled for the Workies.

Chris Mills hit a hat-trick for Honeybourne Gate Inn as they won 4-1 at Mickleton Rangers in Group A of the Barry Brotherton Cup, whilst in Group B a McElroy goal for Eckington condemned visitors Bretforton Old Boys to their third defeat in the competition as they went down 1-0.

Stour Excelsior reached the last eight of the Express-Funding Mick Godwin Cup with a 7-0 home win over Salford Priors in which Pratt (2), Wright, Godson, Harris, Featherstone and Hince scored.

They are joined by Anchor Harriers who won 8-0 at Ambi Allsports as Heritage (4), Taylor, Morgan, Cronen and Quantrell all found the net.

On Sunday evening at Pershore Town FC, Broadway United reached the Pershore Hospital Junior Cup final with a 3-0 win over Defford/Besford United.

In the Minor Cup second round WMK shocked visitors Bear with a 6-1 win, Fladbury Athletic came from 2-0 down to defeat visitors Alderton 3-2 and Tewkesbury Town won 6-1 at Alcester Town.

In a quarter-final tie Offenham Rovers won 2-1 at AC Olympia to reach the last four.
