A YOUNG firefighter has been honoured for making his first step on the career ladder.
James Topping from Broadway Fire Station received a framed certificate from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service after successfully completed his Trainee Firefighter Programme.
He was one of 16 firefighters awarded at its Celebration of Success event held at the Guildhall in Worcester last Thursday (January 24).
Chief Fire Officer Mark Yates, who presented the awards with Derek Prodger, chairman of the Fire and Rescue Authority, said: "This Celebration of Success event gives us chance to formally congratulate members of staff on a range of personal and professional achievements.
"Everyone who was presented with a certificate has dedicated a great deal of time and effort to their learning and self-development, often alongside their main role with the service. They deserve to be recognised for their commitment and hard work, and I sincerely hope that they enjoyed coming together in this way with their colleagues and their families to celebrate their achievements."
