RESIDENTS at a Broadway care home can let their imaginations run wild next week when they take part in National Storytelling Week.

Brompton House Residential and Nursing Home in Station Road is hosting a week of special events starting on Monday (January 28) and members of the public are invited to come along and take part from 2.30pm each day.

Held annually, National Storytelling Week encourages people to create and enjoy stories and increase awareness of how beneficial sharing tales can be.

Amanda Francis, manager at Brompton House, said telling stories helped the residents free their minds.

"Storytelling is one of the most traditional forms of enjoyment for people of all ages," she added.

"It allows our residents to liberate their imaginations and be transported to other worlds without even having to leave the comfort of their armchairs!

"We are looking forward to welcoming family members and members of the local community along - we really want as many people as possible to join us in celebrating this wonderful form of entertainment."

Supporting Bupa care homes on the project is The Reader Organisation, a charity which has been promoting the links between reading and wellbeing in older people since 2006.

Anyone interested in attending or taking part in a storytelling event should call 0845 600 4266 or e-mail storytellingweek@bupa.com.
