PEOPLE in the Vale can invest in their own little love nest this Valentine's Day and show just how much they care for the county's feathered friends.
Worcestershire Wildlife Trust run a Rent-a-Nest scheme which staff believe will make the perfect romantic present for people to demonstrate their love for a special Valentine.
By renting a nest they will also be doing their bit to give a helping hand to woodland birds.
Becky Bradshaw-King, co-ordinator of the scheme, said: “Spring is almost in the air and it won’t be long before birds are looking for a suitable place to cosy up together before raising a family this year. As our woodlands and other wild places with natural nesting sites for birds have been damaged and destroyed, this is a great opportunity to help our local wildlife."
The Trust puts up nest boxes in four woodlands around the county and these are rented out on an annual basis.
For £10 Rent-a-Nest leaseholders are provided with a certificate, an annual report about what used the box and an invite to visit the box with the warden in the spring.
The boxes can be rented at The Knapp & Papermill, near Leigh Sinton, Lower Smite Farm, near Worcester, Knowles Coppice, near Bewdley and Tiddesley Wood in Pershore.
Anyone wishing to purchase a Rent-a-Nest lease can do so at www.worcswildlifetrust.co.uk/shop or over the phone on 01905 754919.
