EVESHAM'S first drive-through supermarket opened this week.

The pioneering new service at the town's Tesco store means customers can now pick up their groceries after ordering them online without having to leave their cars.

The store in Worcester Road has introduced a new collection point where people drive up, call a Freephone number to contact the store and staff bring out their shopping and pack it into the boot.

Evesham schoolchildren have been asked to design artwork for a special jute shopping bag to help promote the new Click & Collect service.

Store manager, Andy Holsten, said he was excited to be able to offer the new service to his customers.

"I speak to them every day about their shopping experience and this new drive-through will now offer even more choice in how they buy their shopping," he added.

"Customers who are stretched for time can now buy the same products at the same prices without having to leave their car."

To use the service people can order their shopping online as usual and book a two-hour collection slot. They can then pick up their groceries any time within this two-hour window.

Ian Crook, tesco.com marketing director, added: "It offers a convenient solution to parents who want to avoid the challenge of shopping in a busy store with children in tow but can’t afford the time to stay in for the shopping to arrive at their door.

"We also expect it to help young professionals who want all the convenience of a pre-picked and packed shop but who cannot commit to waiting at home for delivery.

"They can collect their food shopping on the way home from work or at any other time that suits them during our extensive collection hours."
