A VALE headteacher has praised the hard work and dedication of her staff and pupils after a Broadway school was rated outstanding by inspectors.

Staff and pupils at St Mary's Catholic Primary School started the year with something to celebrate after Ofsted inspectors gave the school top marks following an inspection last month.

The outstanding grade is one better than their last inspection held in February 2010 when inspectors rated it as a 'good' school.

The report praised the Leamington Road school and said the teachers marking was of the highest quality, pupils behaviour was excellent and the school gave excellent support for disabled pupils.

And the school's executive headteacher Jacqui Le Maitre said she was delighted the hard work of all staff and pupils had paid off.

“I am really proud of the staff, pupils and governors here," she said. "I am delighted that the exceptional hard work, professionalism and commitment of all our staff have been recognised by Ofsted

"I have the pleasure of working with an extremely committed and dedicated staff and I am thrilled that their good practise and teamwork, which has ensured that pupils make good progress in a happy and secure learning environment, has been recognised.

“The pupils’ attitudes to learning and their behaviour are exemplary and they are a credit to themselves, their school and their families.

“We believe that our children deserve the very best education in the safest and happiest environment. We are very proud of everyone. ”

The report said the school could further improve by giving pupils further opportunities to review their own and each other's work.

Mrs Le Maitre added: "Now that the school has been recognised as outstanding we will continue on our mission to aim high and reach for the stars."
