A POLICE officer in Pershore has been honoured for his dedicated work with the community and service to the town.
PC John Hunter, who has served Pershore for the past 14 years, was awarded the annual Wychavon Trophy which is handed to deserved and committed members of the district's police force every year.
PC Hunter's sharp eye for discovering problems in the town and acting upon them was one of the key reasons he was awarded the trophy.
PC Hunter became the local policing officer for Pershore in 2006 and his appointment enabled him to build on his relationships and awareness of the community.
He has worked with and developed the town’s Police Community Support Officers to compliment and assist his duties and has focused on annual community events ensuring an appropriate police presence is maintained.
Coun Richard Morris, chairman of Wychavon District Council, said “This year’s honour goes to PC John Hunter a very dedicated, enthusiastic and effective Local Police Officer who is held in very high regard by his colleagues and the local community and a worthy winner of this award.
"John has spent all of his service in and around Pershore, the heart of Wychavon, getting to know the people in the community and partner agencies.”
PC Hunter said it was a great honour for him to receive such an award.
"I’m very happy working in Pershore at a grassroots level with everyday people," he said. "It is very nice to be honoured in this way for doing something that I really enjoy."
