Everyman Theatre set for Agatha Christie classic

A SENSE of mystery will surround a Cheltenham theatre later this month when it stages a production of a classic thriller.

The Agatha Christie Theatre Company are busy preparing for their new production of the famous crime writer's novel Go Back For Murder at the Everyman Theatre between Monday, January 21 and Saturday, January 26.

Suspects, secrets and suspense will be the theme of the production which follows the hugely successful shows The Hollow, The Unexpected Guest, Spider's Web, Witness For The Prosecution, Verdict and Murder On The Nile.

The show tells the story of Carla Le Marchant who has to live with a disturbing family secret - her mother Caroline Crale died in prison while serving life for killing her husband.

But after finding a letter in which Caroline claims she is innocent, Carla becomes obsessed and determined to clear her mother's name.

Enlisting the help of Justin Fogg, the son of Caroline's defence lawyer, Carla tracks down a number of people from her mother's tragic past only to uncover the shocking truth.

This classic 'whodunit' drama features an all-star cast including Liza Goddard whose prolific stage and television credits include BBC's Bergerac and long-running game show Give Us A Clue and Sophie ward as Carla who has appeared in drams such as Heartbeat, Holby City and 2011 film Jane Eyre.

Also taking to the stage at the Regent Street venue is Robert Duncan remembered for his role as Gus Hedges in Channel 4 comedy Drop The Dead Donkey, Peak Practice star Gary Mavers, Andrew Attwood, Lysette Anthony and Soldier Soldier star Ben Nealon.

Shows start at 7.45pm each night with afternoon performances on Thursday (January 24) and Saturday (January 26) at 2pm.
