PERSHORE MP Harriett Baldwin has said improving rural broadband speeds will be one of her main priorities for 2013.

The MP is convinced planning to help improve access to broadband speed connections at homes and businesses will help her constituents and the local economy.

Mrs Baldwin has been an active campaigner for rural broadband improvements and will shortly set out plans for an event to help rural communities get access to better support.

“Faster broadband is a critical piece of infrastructure to help Worcestershire succeed in the global economic race," she said.

“In 2013, I am expecting more homes and businesses in Malvern and Pershore to get super fast broadband.

“The County Council will also start distributing funds to help rural parishes. Constituents need to register their interest in this on the County Council website and with their internet provider.

“Getting decent broadband connections into our local homes and businesses is vital to allow more businesses to start-up and grow."

As well as broadband speeds, Mrs Baldwin aims to keep up pressure on the insurance industry and the Government as they negotiate a national deal on flood insurance.

Another priority is to continue to support local businesses and create jobs to help those out of work.

“I will also do everything I can to help local businesses succeed, creating jobs and tax revenues," she added.

“I will also have weekly advice surgeries across the constituency, so that I can be accessible to constituents who need my help.”
