ONLY five matches in the Birdseye Sports Evesham Sunday League survived the continued wet weather in the latest round of matches.

Broadway United took a big step towards qualifying from Group A in the Barry Brotherton Cup with a 7-0 home win over Evesham WMC as Jason Horsburgh bagged three goals and further strikes followed from Craig (2), Magee and Mark Horsburgh.

In Group B Eckington recorded a comprehensive 8-1 win at Defford/Besford United as McElroy struck six times and Bostock and Gill also found the net, with Defford netting a consolation through Kelley.

AC Olympia took the local honours in Division Two as they won 4-2 at Cheltenham Saints.

Hope and Gibbs scored for Saints but doubles from Elliott and Quemby earned the Bishops Cleeve side the three points.

Offenham Rovers dropped valuable points in their Division Three promotion bid as they were held to a 3-3 draw at Ecosamba.

Lennox, Kavanagh and Rahman scored for the home team, whilst Rovers registered through Fisher, Tustin and Hickman.

Broadway United Reserves secured a 5-0 victory at basement club Salford Priors with goals from Reading (2), Berryman, Schofield and McDonagh.
