Hi: 15° Lo:3° 7 day

A MAN has died and another man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash between a car and a van yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).
Emergency services were called to the A46 at Teddington Hand roundabout near Beckford following reports of a serious smash at 4.30pm.
Two senior paramedic officers in rapid response vehicles and an ambulance crew from West Midlands Ambulance Service attended along with a crew from Great Western Ambulance Service as the crash happened on the Worcestershire/Gloucestershire border.
Midlands Air Ambulance was unable to send a helicopter to take the men to hospital as night was falling and so staff from the Strensham base attended by car.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival, it was apparent nothing could be done to save the driver of the car involved in the collision and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
"The van driver was trapped in his vehicle for approximately 45 minutes. He was treated for a neck injury, a chest injury and leg injuries. He was given pain relief at the scene and was fully immobilised before being taken to the major trauma unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
"Crews also assessed and discharged a woman at the scene who came across the incident and who had become distressed."
