Ladies bid for home success

Bromsgrove 3 Badsey Ladies 2

Worcestershire League Division One

BADSEY will be hoping to secure some home comforts this weekend after suffering two successive defeats on the road.

They entertain league leaders Harborne 3rds tomorrow in what promises to be another tough test but they will hope to reap the rewards that recent performances have deserved, yet not delivered.

A 4-1 defeat at Old Silhillians two weeks ago was followed by another setback at Bromsgrove on Saturday in a game which saw the visitors trailing 1-0 at half time despite being the better side for the majority of the first half.

Player of the match Kay Amphlett, Laura Moore and Sarah Rickey all looked threatening for Badsey but Bromsgrove struck inside the opening 15 minutes to leave the visitors frustrated at the break.

Badsey continued to impress in the second half and deservedly drew level when Amphlett scored from an acute angle but rather than be able to build on the goal, they conceded twice in five minutes to give Bromsgrove control.

Raising their game again in the final ten minutes, Badsey gave themselves renewed hope when Karen Robinson reduced the deficit but it proved to be too little too late.
