CHARITABLE people are being urged to fill up a shoebox and help make this Christmas one to remember for some of the world's poorest children.

Barbara Pearson, from Charlton near Pershore, has given more than 6,500 fully wrapped shoeboxes to churches in the area this year in aid of the Operation Christmas Child appeal.

The appeal, run by Samaritan's Purse, is the world's largest children's Christmas project and since its launch in 1990 has sent gift-filled shoeboxes to millions of unprivileged children around the world.

And Barbara has plenty of empty shoeboxes for anyone wanting to fill them before the deadline for sending them on Sunday (November 18).

"If anyone from churches, schools or villages would like any last minute covered shoeboxes with Christmas paper already on them I can supply one offs or hundreds in the Evesham and Pershore area," she said.

Barbara is also appealing to know of other shops in the Vale who can donate shoeboxes with the one where she has collected more than 2,500 expected to close next month.

"If anyone knows of any shops or manufactures that can help in supplying any shoe boxes for next year I will be extremely grateful to hear of them," she added.
