AN AWARD-winning butcher has praised the impact of Evesham's loyalty card scheme after seeing an increase in the number of customers coming through the door.
Dave Purser, who runs The Master Butcher, in Avon Street has seen his takings rise by just under ten per cent compared with the same period last year and said he thinks the new YES campaign has been the main reason for this.
"My regular customers speak really positively about the loyalty card so I think it’s been a total success," he said.
"As an independent shop it’s important we have the support of the town and thanks to this campaign we’re experiencing that support more than ever."
The first loyalty card prize draw takes place tomorrow (Saturday) alongside the town's Christmas lights switch-on.
The YES campaign was launched last month and encourages shoppers to spend their money in town businesses to be in with a chance of winning £1,000 each month.
Loyalty cards receive a stamp for every transaction of £1 or more in any participating business. Once 10 stamps are received, the owner can fill in their details and enter the card into that month’s prize draw to win £1,000 in town gift vouchers.
Following the 12 monthly prizes, there will be a Grand Finale draw in November 2013 with all cards from the year included. The winner of this will scoop a £3,000 cash prize.
Shawn Riley, Evesham Market Town Partnership Manager, said he was delighted the scheme had been a success so soon.
"The Master Butcher is an example of the excellent independent traders we have in Evesham and it is exactly the sort of business that we have launched the YES campaign to support," he added.
"We already have more than 100 town businesses signed up and with shoppers clearly backing the scheme, it’s great that there is support across the board."
The scheme is funded by Worcestershire County Council, Wychavon District Council and Evesham Market Town Partnership (EMTP).
