Pershore have to settle for a point

Pershore Town 2 Nuneaton Griff 2

Midland Combination Premier Division

PERSHORE had to settle for a point on Saturday as a last-gasp equaliser denied them maximum spoils from an entertaining encounter.

The draw was Town's third successive share of the points in the league and left them 14th in the table heading into Tuesday's scheduled visit to Southam United, which was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Pershore made a bright start to the game and took a deserved lead when a ball across the box was driven home by Ben Hayes, but the visitors levelled just after the restart when Sullivan converted from a set piece.

Town rallied though and scored a superb goal to regain the lead as Richard Congrave beat two players before pulling the ball back for James Rogers to finish with aplomb.

Both Congrave and Lewis Critcher had chances to extend Pershore's lead and the failure to convert these opportunities was to prove costly as Nuneaton Griff levelled in stoppage time in a goalmouth scramble following a free kick.

Tomorrow Pershore visit Pelsall Villa.
