A VALE school is strengthening its connections in all corners of the globe by developing links with China.
Teachers from Caoqiao Middle School in Suzhou near Shanghai made a special visit to Pershore High School on Tuesday (October 9) to start a project which will see the two schools link together.
The visitors spent the day at the Station Road school meeting staff and students discovering what normal school life was like in the UK.
The project, titled Global Citizen, will see the two schools exchange video diaries, work on tasks together and when the opportunity arises students will get to go on exchange trips.
As well as China, the school has also developed strong links in other parts of the world including Zambia and especially with Pershore's twin towns Bad Neustadt and Plouay in Germany and France respectively.
Simon Kemp, international school co-ordinator at Pershore High School told the Observer: "Developing links with China is something we have been planning for a while and we are excited this project is finally taking off.
"The headteacher has been keen for students to start learning the basic language of Mandarin and it's taken off from there.
"China has such big links with the business and industrial sector so its important pupils have some understanding of their culture before they leave school and start off in the business world.
"We are very proud of our reputation to develop links around the world and giving the youngsters the opportunity to visit these places and learn about different cultures and to celebrate diversity in the world."
