TWO YEARS ago Wesley Emms had ballooned to 26 stone and struggled to do any exercise.
But this weekend the 31-year-old is limbering up to take part in a gruelling half marathon after shedding an incredible eleven stone.
Wesley, who lives in West Street in Evesham, decided to take the big step forward and tackle his weight problem when he realised enough was enough after treading on the scales.
Wesley's workload included regular working out on the treadmill and rowing machine combined with some light weights. Stretches and a change of diet were then added to the programme to help him achieve his goals.
The 31-year-old said visiting the town's new gym Pheonix Fitness Solutions and meeting manager Jason Harvey proved the turning point in turning his life around.
"I had always been stocky but after my kid was born I found it harder and harder to go out and exercise after work," he said. "I gradually became bigger and bigger and realised I had to so something when I hit 26 stone.
"Pheonix had just opened then and I met with Jason to chat about my aims. Because he looked quite young I wondered how it would work but he was totally professional, really friendly and knew his stuff. The results have been amazing."
Now, Wesley weighs in at 15 stone and has become a running enthusiast after being inspired by his brother.
And on Sunday (October 14) the fitness fanatic will take to the streets of Oxford in the city's 13-mile half marathon - an event which marks the transformation in his life.
"I had never run before but seeing my brother run at Silverstone last year inspired me to give it a go," Wesley added. "The Tewkesbury five-mile run last November was my first and it was really tough but it's been getting better and now I'm recording some decent times.
"I'm looking forward to Oxford this weekend and it is all thanks to Jason and just a bit of willpower. I would seriously recommend that anyone in the position I was in should speak to him because he can make a real difference.
Mr Harvey spoke of his delight for Wesley's transformation and said his experience can prove an inspiration to others.
"Wesley is great to work with because he is focused on his goals and sticks to his plan," he said. "His results have been fantastic and it shows others that they can achieve their aims too."
