PUPILS at a Vale middle school were bowled over when Worcestershire County Cricket Club captain Daryl Mitchell dropped in to tell them about being part of a team.
The youngsters at St Nicholas C of E Middle School in Pinvin are taking part in a 'learning journey' this term which is all about teamwork.
Firefighter, Michael Hobbs, from Birmingham Airport's fire service, visited the Year 5 pupils earlier in the week and a number of sportsmen will come to the school before Christmas to share their team-working experiences with them.
Katie Whitehead, head of Year 5, said: "Learning Journeys have proved to be an excellent way of engaging the children by providing a wide range of real, not fabricated, contexts for doing things.
"It is fantastic how open and enthusiastic the children have become and everyone has very high expectations of themselves.”
