Hi: 16° Lo:3° 7 day

PERSHORE Police Station's front desk where people can report crimes is set to move next week.
From Monday (October 1) all services currently provided by the counter will move the short distance next door to the Civic Centre in Queen Elizabeth Drive - the headquarters of Wychavon District Council.
These services include reporting crimes and problems, producing legal documentation and reporting lost and found property.
The new Community Contact Centre 'one stop shop' in the town will be open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and mirrors the model of the shared services hub in Evesham which has been in operation for several years.
Chief Superintendent Trevor Albutt, who leads public services, said: "West Mercia Police is constantly looking for opportunities to create shared services hubs with our partner agencies.
"Such moves represent good value for money at a time when all public service budgets are reducing. We already have a longstanding working relationship with Wychavon District Council at Evesham and I am sure the joint public services hub will work just as well in Pershore.
"It is better for the public too, with the counter moving literally next door, because the hub means we can maintain longer opening hours for the public to access police services."
Ian Marshall, head of legal and support services at Wychavon District Council, added: "We're pleased to welcome the police public service counter to the range of other services we have on offer at the Pershore Community Contact Centre.
"It makes sense to have public services together to make it easier for customers and this already works well in Evesham."
