EVESHAM United scouts will be on the look out for budding talent when the club takes on a team made up of Vale growers in a charity football match next week.

The 'Growers United' team led by Vicarage Nurseries in Bretforton will be made up of people from their respective farms and Evesham United will use players from across their squads.

The match which takes place next Tuesday (October 2) at 7.45pm at the Jubilee Stadium is free entry, but the crowd will be encouraged to make donations with all proceeds going to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Businesses will also be making corporate donations to the charity.

The match marks the end of the growing season in the Vale and with a number of the players coming from Eastern Europe it is hoped it will bring the community closer together.

Jon Packard, who is helping to organise the event, said the story of Esme Clayson from Bidford who is currently battling leukaemia had encouraged them to support the hospital.

"This little girl is onto her second bone marrow transplant and numerous children from our community have been or are being treated at this hospital," he said.

"Esme Clayson and her family will be there on the night, weather permitting."
