ORPHANS living in one of the world's poorest countries will be able to live a better life thanks to the efforts of charity aiming to make a huge difference.
The Orphans In The Wild charity's 40ft high cube container was collected yesterday (Thursday) from Oak Farm in Throckmorton Road to be sent to poverty-stricken village the Mufindi Highlands in Southern Tanzania to help people who have lost their loved ones.
Life-changing items in the container include hospital beds, mattresses, linen, handmade blankets, nurses uniforms, children’s clothing, defibrillators, autoclaves, blood pressure monitors wheelchairs and crutches and various items of IT equipment.
Over the past six years the charity has helped build six new school rooms, a primary care hospital, a teaching library in Igoda and houses for grandmothers caring for orphans.
Marion Gough, a trustee of the Orphans In The Wild charity, said: "All these items have been generously donated by hospitals north to south of the country, members of the public and friends for which we really thank you.
"Special thanks goes to Darren Lothian of White Logistics, who for the last six years, has collected them for us on his return from deliveries.
"This equipment we have will make a huge difference to people's lives. When I went to Mufindi previously I couldn't believe how poor the village was. It was like living in a different world.
"Without all this help and support these donations would not get to where they are desperately needed."
