A MAN is set to appear in court today (Tuesday) charged with carrying out two sneak-in burglaries in Pershore and stealing money from a man in the town.

Both burglaries happened on the afternoon of Thursday, August 23. Between 12.40pm and 3pm, a house on Fairways Walk was entered through an unlocked back door. Cash to the value of £180 was stolen from two bedside cabinets.

At about 1.30pm on the same day, a woman living in a house on Whitcroft Road had £70 taken from her handbag which she had left in the kitchen. It is believed that someone snuck into the house through the back door - which had been left unlocked - in order to steal the cash.

A week earlier on Tuesday, August 14, the householder of a property on Monks Close invited a man he knew into his flat after the man had asked him for a glass of water. The man entered the kitchen and then quickly left without getting a drink. After the man had gone, the householder found that his wallet had been stolen from the kitchen.

A 30-year-old man from Pershore was arrested last Friday (August 24) at an address in the town in connection with the offences. He was later charged with two counts of burglary and one count of theft. The man was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Worcester Magistrates Court today.
