HARVINGTON stepped up their Worcestershire League Division Three title bid with a comprehensive 118-run victory over Kidderminster on Saturday.

The success enabled Harvington to close the gap on leaders Cookley to 13 points with four games remaining.

After winning the toss and electing to bat in order to try and secure maximum points, Harvington batted sensibly on a tricky wicket.

The highlight was provided by Dave Waters who continued his good form since taking over the opening berth by compiling 72.

Andrew Fisher, Jo Venter, James Towey and Ben Hawker all topped 20 which helped Harvington post 224 for 9 in 50 overs.

In reply Kidderminster were up against it from the word go with skipper Mitchell being bowled in Ben Hawker’s first over.

Kidderminster attempted to shut up shop looking for the losing draw from an early stage but wickets fell at regular intervals and the reply terminated on 106 with 12 overs left.

Hawker led the way with three wickets, while there were two apiece for Jo Venter and Steve Mckelvie.

Harvington begin an important Bank Holiday weekend by travelling to Malvern on Saturday before entertaining Cookley in what could be the title decider on Monday.

Harvington 2nds produced one of their best performances of the season in defeating Kidderminster 4ths by nine wickets.

Kidderminster had no answer to an accurate bowling attack and were dismissed for just 92 with Jethro Chadwick claiming four wickets.

In reply an undefeated 50 from Tom Tew eased Harvington to victory.

Harvington easily defeated Norton Lindsey on Sunday.

Dan Colburn and Dave Moulson bagged three wickets apiece as Norton Lindsey were dismissed for 96, while Andre Fisher hit an unbeaten 55 as Harvington overhauled the target with 18 overs to spare.
