Hi: 16° Lo:3° 7 day

MUCH-LOVED funnyman Jimmy Tarbuck is to make a special appearance in Cheltenham next month, it has been announced.
The Liverpool born comic and entertainer will be providing a night full of laughter when he takes to the town's Bacon Theatre stage on Friday, September 21 with the show starting at 7.30pm.
Tarbuck, or Tarby as he is best known to millions of television viewers, will be on his best form in front of an expected packed audience and will share anecdotes and demonstrate his popular quick-fire wit style of comedy.
The performer will also use photos and video footage throughout the show which promises comedy for grown-ups rather than adult comedy.
During his fruitful career, Tarbuck has achieved many awards as both an entertainer and a charity fundraiser. After making his television debut at the young age of 22 he then made several guest appearances on the Sunday Night Live at the London Palladium until becoming presenter in 1965.
Tarbuck was then in great demand during the 1970s and 80s and programmes such as The Jimmy Tarbuck Show, Winner Takes All, Tarby and Friends and the 'Live From' series attracted millions of viewers each week. In 1994 he was awarded an OBE for his services to showbusiness and charity.
Jess Waterman, from the Bacon Theatre, said: "Jimmy Tarbuck will be taking audiences on a humorous trip down memory lane with a wealth of hugely funny stories ranging from being in the same school class as John Lennon, to playing golf with Bing Crosby.
"Jimmy is such an amiable character and we can't wait to welcome him to the Bacon Theatre."
Tickets are currently on sale for £18 (£16 for concessions) and are now available by by calling the Bacon Theatre Box Office on 01242 258002 or by visiting www.bacontheatre.co.uk.
