SOME of television's best well known names are set to star in a romantic comedy being staged in Cheltenham next month.
Strictly Come Dancing winner and Eastenders star Kara Tointon is joined by popular actress Felicity Kendal in the play titled Relatively Speaking which will be performed at the Everyman Theatre from Monday, September 10.
Downton Abbey star Jonathon Coy and actor Max Bennett also star as the theatre's autumn season makes a flying start with this beautifully crafted and charming English play written by British playwright Alan Ayckbourn.
When the show opened at the Duke of York's Theatre in 1967, critics hailed the arrival of Ayckbourn as a great new comic talent. The comedy tells the story of a man's quest to marry the woman of his dreams.
Greg, played by Max Bennett, only met Ginny (Tointon) a month ago but he is so sure in his heart he wants to marry her. When Ginny tells him she is going to visit her parents, Greg decides this is the perfect moment to ask her father for his blessing.
Discovering a scribbled address, Greg follows his potential wife to be to Buckinghamshire where he finds Phillip and Sheila (Coy and Kendal) enjoying a peaceful Sunday morning breakfast in the garden - but the only thing is they are not Ginny's parents.
Shows will take place daily between Monday (September 10) to Saturday (September 15) starting at 7.45pm. There are also two afternoon shows of the play showing on the Thursday and Saturday with 2pm starts.
Tickets cost from £12 plus a booking fee and are available by calling the Everyman Theatre Box Office on 01242 572573 or visit www.everymantheatre.org.uk.
