THIS summer will see plenty of excitement with a fabulous line-up of entertainment scheduled at Pershore Number 8 Community Arts Centre.

The popular High Street venue plays host to a huge variety of live shows and events throughout the next few months for people of all ages to enjoy.

Season highlights include Hip Hope Hero starring deaf hip-hop dancer and winner of South Africa's Got Talent winner Darren Rajbal and the screening on Opera on Ice.

Ballet enthusiasts are also in for a treat this summer with three stunning productions - Raymonda, Tales of Beatrix Potter and Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake in 3D.

The film programme sees some favourites from previous seasons including The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and The Help back on the big screen by popular demand alongside blockbuster The Hunger Games and science-fiction epic Prometheus 3D.

Number 8's Shakespeare On Screen season continues with the Taming of the Shrew starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and there is a special screening of Passport to Pimlico celebrating Pershore's Independent Week.

There will also be operas and theatre classics beamed in via satellite as part of the National Theatre Live season.

Youngsters will also have plenty of opportunities to get their creative juices flowing with Olympics themed workshops in which adults and children can join in the fun and dance together and design their own flags or medals.

They can also improve their stage performances with a variety of theatrical roles in Play in a Day: Plum Productions. Those aged 55 or over can also get into the fun spirit by taking part in the Chance to Dance Summer School.
