EVESHAM UNITED were held to a goalless draw by Chasetown in their latest pre-season friendly at the Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium on Saturday, although the stalemate extended the Robins' unbeaten run to seven games in their build-up to the new season.
The visitors shaded the first half as former Evesham striker Gary Hay fired wide and then saw his header well saved by keeper Dean Coleman as the Scholars looked dangerous going forward.
United's first effort on goal arrived on the half hour when Tesfa Robinson got on the end of Neil MacKenzie's free kick but could only direct his shot over the bar.
Evesham's Roland Agbor missed a sitter with the half drawing to a close when he blazed wide from a yard out following Niall Wellington's corner.
The second half was littered with substitutions but chances were still created at both ends and Hay had the best opportunity but somehow headed wide of the target after a misunderstanding at the heart of the home defence.
Evesham striker Luke Corbett could have won it but, after latching on to Coleman's free kick, he blasted his effort high and wide with only Chasetown keeper Lee Evans to beat.
