THERE was plenty of summer fun in Badsey when it hosted its popular annual flower show over the weekend.

The 110th Badsey Flower Show attracted hundreds of visitors as the village put on a weekend to remember on Saturday (July 21) at its Recreation Ground on Sands Lane.

Unlike with other events in the Vale held this summer, the rain managed to stay away as villagers enjoyed an afternoon of fun and celebration.

The highlight of the event saw a fly-past by an original Second World War Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight go by in the sky.

Television actress Lynda Bellingham made a special appearance to the Vale village to film sections of a brand new ITV1 show titled 'My Tasty Travels With Lynda Bellingham'.

As well as a huge flower display, the event also featured a professional stunt dogs display, musical theatre by Evesham's Vital Statistics Theatre Company, morris dancing, a birds of prey display and a large marquee featuring an array of stalls, side shows and children's rides.

Adrian Barradell, Badsey Flower Show committee member, said: "The event went brilliantly well for another year and we were lucky to have such lovely weather particularly after all the heavy rain in the last few weeks or so.

"Thanks to everyone who came along and supported us. A lot of hard work goes into putting on events like this and it was great to see such a big turnout."
