PREPARATIONS for next year's Pershore Carnival will begin this week when a special meeting is held.
Residents in Pershore and the surrounding areas are being encouraged to come along to Pershore Town Hall on Wednesday (July 18) at 7pm with ideas for a theme to next year's event.
Last month's Diamond Jubilee themed carnival was regarded as one of the best ever to be held in town after more than 10,000 visitors flocked to Pershore to celebrate The Queen's 60th anniversary on the throne.
Colin Shepherd, chairman of the Pershore carnival committee, said: "We had a huge task this year to put on a bigger and better carnival for the Diamond Jubilee and thanks to my dedicated team of volunteers we managed it.
"I only hope that people and organisations within the community are encouraged to enter or contribute to next year's carnival either through one of our many competitions or by entering a float or the fancy dress competition.
"We aim to provide opportunities for people of all ages to participate in what is still a major event in Pershore's annual calendar."
There are currently two open vacancies on next year's committee. Anyone who would like to join can email carnival secretary Liz Hackett-Smith at lizhackett_2000@yahoo.co.uk.
