Hi: 16° Lo:3° 7 day

HARVINGTON maintained their Worcestershire League Division Three title charge with a thumping eight-wicket victory over visitors Chaddesley Corbett on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to field on a day where bad weather was due in the early evening, Harvington wasted no time getting their opposition on the back foot.
South African bowler Jo Venter bowled with a threat the entire innings and no Chaddesley batsman had an answer to him as in two spells he turned in the figures of 6-13 off 11 overs.
He was backed up by two wickets from leg-spinner Jamie Anderson and the Harvington fielding was the best it has been all season as Chaddesley were dismissed for just 76.
In reply, despite the early loss of Andrew Fisher and Fraser Goodlad, Jaimen Rudd with 20 and James Towey with 35 saw Harvington home to a simple victory on 77-2.
This 20-point victory leaves them second in the table, five points behind leaders Cookley, ahead of tomorrow's trip to Stourbridge Social.
A depleted Harvington 2nds competed well at Chaddesley and the 111-run defeat was harsh on them.
The home side scored 206-8 in 50 overs, with three wickets for George Whiston who then top scored with 31 as Harvington were dismissed for 95.
On Sunday Harvington defeated Alcester & Ragley by 92 runs. Batting first Harvington scored 197-7 in 40 overs as Chris Ayliffe top scored with 31.
In reply Alcester were dismissed for 105 with Tom Heywood taking 3-19 off six overs and Whiston completing a good weekend personally by taking 3-11.
