AFTER encountering mixed fortunes in their respective league campaigns, a mixed Pershore hockey side made the trip down to Weymouth for their annual three-day Easter hockey festival and emerged victorious.

The first match was played against the home team Weymouth and it was clear this was going to be more of a challenge than the Pershore players thought, especially as they were playing on grass.

However, goals from Kate Adams and Tony Handley ensured Pershore came through that first game unscathed before the second match saw some fantastic keeping from Karl Lawson and a final short corner goal from Emma Gardner maintain Pershore's unbeaten record on the Saturday.

Sunday was the busier day with four matches played, but Pershore stepped up to the plate and became a goalscoring machine.

In the final game of the day they clinched a 13-1 victory over OutPhoars - a team who were slightly worse for wear!

The last day was always going to be tough for Pershore as, despite being top of the table overnight, they faced the second and third placed teams - Stafford and Unorthadox.

However, some fantastic play and a special goal from Ed Deacon ensured Pershore came through the tournament unbeaten and were crowned worthy champions.

The club would like to thank Weymouth for the great tour and look forward to going back and defending their title next year.
