Hi: 14° Lo:2° 7 day

EVESHAM Golf Club seniors celebrated Diamond Jubilee week with two matches against Bransford and Lilley Brook.
Fresh from the double bank holiday, they recorded a resounding 6-1 home win over Bransford last Wednesday to leave the celebration bunting up for one more day.
Captain Mike Abraham continued his winning ways with playing partner Alan Groves, whilst Peter Gilbert/Peter Belcher, Peter Edmunds/Ian Wood, Neil Croft/Richard Saville, Mike Whiteford/Phil White and Ian Facer/Doug Sharp all won as well.
On Friday they visited Lilley Brook, that most picturesque of courses on the lower slopes of Cleeve Hill just outside Cheltenham.
Seniors matches often see the home side winning at a canter but not this time as Lilley Brook just managed a 4-3 victory after a close fought match in which two of Evesham's losses only came on the last hole.
Well done to the pairings of John Machin/Derek Stroud, Ian Facer/Martin Williams and Alan Bees/Peter Ratledge, who all won.
Proving what a funny old game golf is, Peter Edmunds (and partner) won his match 9&7 on Monday, only to lose 9&8 just two days later - both extreme results!
