ONE OF Pershore's most familiar faces, Betty Hughes MBE, has died at the age of 89.
The former town councillor who stepped down last year after almost three decades of service passed away peacefully at Worcestershire Royal Hospital last Tuesday (May 29).
A service of thanksgiving will be held at Pershore Abbey next Tuesday (June 12) at 2pm.
Only the family are giving flowers but donations can be made to her favourite charities with cheques payable to E Hill & Son Donation Account and sent to Fairfield House, Pershore, WR10 1HZ.
A full tribute to Mrs Hughes, who was also president of the Pershore division of St John Ambulance and involved in a number of other community groups, will be in next week's Observer.
